Audrey took a deep breath and sighed when the car exited the gate.
“You seemed closer than the last time you talked,” Nathan commented. He was driving the car back to his apartment. “Well, I don’t want to pry on your marriage issue so let me ask you something else,” he continued when he got no response from her. “Are you going somewhere or should I drive you back to my place? ‘Cause we’re heading there right now.”
“Hmm…” Audrey hummed. She was quietly looking outside the car’s window. Her solitary moment ended when Nathan pulled over to the side.
“What happened?” she asked, completely inattentive to what was going on. “Why did you pull over?”
