Special Chapter 2: The Supermaid

It’s been two days since Audrey and Asher, along with the housemaid, Flora, came to their new house in the country. The house was already cleaned when they arrived and all that was left to do was to arrange the things in their rooms. Flora took care of that to make sure that Audrey was comfortable. She did all the chores from morning to night, serving Audrey and Asher with all her might.

“Flora, you need to take a break.” Audrey noticed it and she didn’t like how Flora tire herself. “I’m glad you’re doing all you can but your body needs rest. I don’t want you to fall sick because of overworking, okay? Now, sit down and watch Asher sleep. I will make breakfast today,” Audrey said and headed to the kitchen.

“Miss, I can do it.” Flora followed her like a lost child. “You came here to relax, not to make breakfast for your maid,” she stated.

Audrey sighed. “Yes, you’re right. I came here to relax and looking at you work like you’re the only one able in the house doesn’t make me feel right. From now on, I will be in charge of cooking our meals. You just clean the house and watch Asher when I need you to,” Audrey said and smiled. “Now that I’m cooking, you should watch Asher. Understood?”

Flora was hesitant to answer. She knew Audrey was still tired from their long trip and it bothered her that her employer was helping with chores.

“Flora, do you understand me?”

“Yes, Miss. I understand,” Flora replied after contemplating. In the end, she didn’t want to go against Audrey. She went back to the living room where Asher’s crib was and watched the baby sleep comfortably.

Thirty minutes later, Audrey was done preparing breakfast. She called over Flora and the two of them enjoyed a heartful meal.

“Miss, I will wash the dishes,” Flora said as soon as they were both done eating. Audrey didn’t stop her so she was more than delighted to do the task. After cleaning the kitchen, Flora decided to sweep the driveway. She noticed a lot of leaves falling and couldn’t ignore it.

“Flora, you can do it later in the afternoon. I told you to take a break!” Audrey screamed through the window when she spotted her maid heading to the gate with a broom.

“I’ll be done with this in an hour. I’ll take a break then,” Flora replied as she waved her hand. She couldn’t help but giggle when she saw how Audrey made a face to her response. And before she could stop her, she ran outside the gate to start her task.

Flora was peacefully sweeping the leaves and she was almost one with half of it. She hummed a song her mother used to sing when she was young. Among all chores, Flora loved cleaning. She was quite a perfection when it comes to it. She wouldn’t stop unless everything is cleaned. Flora loved it when Audrey complimented her when doing her job well. Perhaps because she was the eldest among her siblings, having Audrey— who was a few years older than her, kind, and gentle, made Flora feel at home as she continuously work for her.

“I should not disappoint the Miss,” Flora mumbled to herself and went on sweeping.

An hour passed and Flora was finally done. She felt proud as she looked at the sparkling driveway. Not only she did sweep it but also wash the pavement. All was left to do was wait for it to dry which wouldn’t take that long as the weather was sunny.

“Great! I should go back inside and show this to Miss later,” Flora said as she wiped her sweat. She was resting on the side while holding her broom.

When Flora was about to leave, a car passed by. It was an expensive-looking sports car that she couldn’t take her eyes off. Not because it looked expensive but because someone was actually driving such a fancy car in the country. Flora was laughing inside her head when something came flying to her face.

“Ah!”

It was too late for her to dodge. Whatever came flying hit her face. “What was that?” Flora took the thing off her face and realized it was a bag of empty peanut shells. “Who dared to throw this to my face?!” She growled in annoyance only to realize that the driveway she diligently swept became dirty again because of the scattered peanut shells.

“That bastard. Unforgivable!”

Without any hesitation, Flora held the broom tightly and ran after the car which happen to slow down ahead. “I’m going to have you sweep off your dirt whoever you are!” The maid yelled as she chased after the vehicle. It would have been impossible for Flora to catch up if the car didn’t stop. Believing that it was her chance to get justice for her supposedly sparkling driveway, Flora rushed to the driver’s seat. But before she could knock, the door opened.

A handsome young man wearing sunglasses came out. He was so tall that Flora had to look up to meet his gaze. “What’s the matter with you? Are you cosplaying or something?” He asked her, moving his gaze from her face and the broom she was holding.

“You’re not going to tell me that you’re practicing being a witch maid are you— Aw!”

Flora didn't let him finish before she landed a solid punch in his face. “Bastard! Come back and pick up the peanut shells you threw in Miss Audrey’s driveway!”

“What's wrong with you?”

Later that day, Audrey received a call from the local police station, informing her about Flora’s circumstance.
