Angel's Decision

As Angel gazed at her phone, her eyes widened in surprise. The caller ID displayed a familiar name - her mother. Her demeanor shifted, and she became visibly uneasy, catching Marlie's attention.

"Angel, is everything all right?" Marlie's concerned tone broke the silence. She asked, her voice laced with worry. Angel's gaze snapped back to the present, and she hastily ended the call instead of answering it.

"Uh, everything's fine, Mrs. Baristanas," Angel stammered, trying to reassure Marlie. Marlie nodded, seemingly relieved, but Angel knew the truth - nothing was fine.

Marlie's warm smile caught Angel's attention, she had always been friendly towards her.

"Call me Marlie, dear. We've known each other for a while now. I think it's time we dropped the formalities."

"Marlie? But I thought your name was Charlotte?" Angel asked, her brow furrowed in confusion and Marlie's smile grew wider, and she explained,
