The rain came with a thunderstorm.

It poured heavily, angrily, lightning striking and illuminating the dark blue skies outside.

And yet, it felt like nothing compared to the flood of relief pouring from my system.

He had woken up. Ferrara, the man I loved.

My fingers tightened around his shirt, my tears dripping on his chest as my quiet sobs reveberated through the room.

I wept because I had been afraid,

I sobbed quietly because I had missed him.

And I held him tightly, afraid to let go, because I needed him, and wanted to savour this moment, forever.

"Mm, I will come back later, boss."

Someone cleared their throat, followed by footsteps and the sound of the door clicking shut behind us.

It sounded like Carlos, but my thoughts were too compromised by the feeling of being in the arms of the man I cared for, so much that I could barely recognise my own voice.
