Chapter 12

WILLOW

I can still recall the time when Lucas and I endeavored to conceive a child. It was a profoundly distressing past. And as much as possible, I prefer not to recollect it. But it persistently resurfaces now that I've unveiled Lucas's faithlessness.

I took a seat opposite Lucas in our warm and inviting living room, my hands anxiously intertwined as I mustered the courage to disclose my innermost longing. The expectation lingered in the atmosphere, heavy with aspiration and uncertainty. This was a dialogue we both yearned for, yet it bore its own burden.

"Lucas," I softly commenced, my voice infused with a mixture of enthusiasm and unease, "I believe I am prepared. Prepared to embark on the next phase, prepared to introduce a little one into our existence."
