Twenty-five: The shooting

Erwan led me to his car after the commotion inside his room. He is not talking to me, his eyes are fixed on the road as he drove.

“Aren’t you going to ask about what just happened?” I started. I want him to say something, I want him to clear my accusations.

He glanced at me for a moment and turned his gaze on the road again.

“You don’t trust me, Shane.” He mumbled. It is barely audible, but I managed to catch every word that he said.

“I am not making excuses for what I did. I am aware of my faults and actions and if you’ll give me another chance, I promise to trust you in every step of the way.” I don’t know what I am saying but I am not used to his silence, so I am trying to lighten the atmosphere as possible.

“Look, Shane. I am not mad at you. I just don’t want you to put yourself in danger.”

“But I am in danger.”

“Yes, you definitely are
