I worried momentarily when Emma said that Isabella called and left no message for me, so I called her back as soon as I got to my desk.
*Ring Ring Ring*
“Hello?”
“Iz, you called?”
Her voice raised an octave, “Yeah! I was so excited about these accessories for the fundraiser that I wanted to tell you all about them!”
I put my hand on my face, “Iz, you worried me.”
“Oh… I’m sorry,” her voice was back to usual now. “By the way, your assistant sounded bored and I think you should give her something to do.”
“No, Iz, she was a pain in the ass yesterday and now she’s paying for it. There’s nothing worse for a designer than to be stuck in a place with no inspiration or…joy in any way, so in some sort of sense… she’s grounded.”
“She’s grounded?”
“Yep.”

I had no idea why he was in such a perky mood today, but I was sleep-deprived and in no mood to take any of his shit today. The time spent with Matthew in the office for the fitting when I was acting like the model for the gown was so surreal. He was a whole other person; he was down to earth, kind, and he is kind of genius when he’s in the zone. I wrote the email as I was lying in bed and unable to fall asleep.
