The prophecy of the cursed lovers

After a long drive where no one dared to speak, Karyn informed us that we were almost there.

We walked down a cobblestone alleyway that led to a duplex. As we got out of the car, a man in his thirties approached us. The sun was at its zenith, and its rays were blinding us.

"It's been a while since we've seen you around here, my niece," he said.

"Hello, Mathias," Karyn replied, embracing him. "We came to see your father. Are these your friends?"

"We could say that," she sighed.

He led us inside and left us in a study where an old man in a wheelchair was waiting for us.

"Uncle," Karyn said.

"Karyn, it's been ages since I've seen you. What brings you here?" he asked, his voice heavy with age.

She turned to me, and I approached the old man with the book in my hand.

"Mr. McKey, my name is Felicia Springs. We have some questions to ask you about this book," I said.

"Sorry, young lady, but I don't give interviews," he replied, looking me in the eyes.
