"You underestimated me, father," Liam said, his voice cold and hard. "You thought you could control me, but you are wrong. This is the end of the road for you."

He was interrupted when he heard a yell coming from the passageway. His father had mind-linked the guards and they were on their way.

Liam's heart was pounding in his chest as he ran towards the door and slipped through, running the opposite way.

"Get him!" His father yelled. "Don't let him escape!"

He could hear the guards' footsteps pounding behind him, their angry shouts filling the air. He knew that if they caught him, he would never be able to escape.

But to his chagrin, he had been surrounded.

With a burst of speed, Liam dodged to the left as one of the guards swung his sword at him. The blade missed him by inches, but Liam could feel the rush of air as it passed by. He gasped, his breath hitching in his voice.

Liam vaulted over a nearby bench, using it as leverage to push himself even further. The guards were closing
