Chapter 22: Rabbit Stew

I place my hand on Kathleen's soft cheek, wiping away the tear. "Kath-" I try to say her name again in the hopes to save both our lives but fail, making the problem worse. Feeling as my oxygen is completely cut off. Darkness creeps on my vision, Kath's angelic face being the last thing I see as I return to my memories flashing before me.

I open my eyes to the sight of an old woman, a crooked toothed smile spreads across her face when she sees me awaken. "I'll inform master you're awake," she says in a gruff voice. She then scurries off, hunching over. Her form reminds me of a monkey almost.

That's rude of me to think, I groan and try to get up and run but to my displeasurement, my frail arms and legs are strapped to a wooden table. The feeling of leather scraping and ripping up my arms encourages me, even more, to stay down.
