Chapter 46: Everett

Brooke woke up a little while before Kaylani returned from class. The moment her eyes opened and she saw me standing beside her, her eyes went wide, her heart rate spiked, and she began thrashing around.

“Hey, hey, hey. You’re not in the laboratory. Look, Enya and Aspen are here,” I say quickly, trying to calm Brooke while the girls rush to her bedside.

“Wh…Where…?”

“It’s okay, Brooke. This is Dr. Everett. Do you remember, you started to shift and those creeps were there, and then that huge dragon, his name is Ancalagon by the way, he scooped you up and brought you here. This is the camp where we saw that red dragon turn into a person and that man rushed her inside. This is him. He’s that guy,” Aspen explains quickly.

She turns and looks at me cautiously. “Why do I feel funny?”

“Well, there are a couple of possible reasons. I’ve had you in a medically induced coma for about a week. Your shift wasn’t going well, your bones started protruding from your body, do you remember that?”
