Chapter 52

Sabine

A gasp left my mouth while shifting back to my human form for the hundredth time today, but I am getting better at this. Inna taught me how to embrace the pain so having my bones break and reshape repeatedly doesn’t hurt as much.

Though I had no idea how much time had passed since I got here, I knew that I had to do something, otherwise the cold, the darkness and especially the hunger would have taken over me, breaking me mentally and physically. I couldn’t let Gabriel do that to me. I was a princess, after all.

My heart ached at the thought I was all alone. Was there someone out there looking for me? I hoped it was. I need it to hang on something to make me break out from my comfort zone and push to break my limits.

“Someone is coming,” I whispered low to Inna while I dressed quickly and stepped back towards the wall. The perks of staying in the dark for so long, all my senses were well developed.

The door unlocked with a loud bang and a familiar smell hit my nose.
