Moments later, I was sitting in the office looking at the dusty old photo with me and Alex smiling happily while we set up the first beam of this place. It was our first thing to call our own, and we worked together to put it on the tourism map. I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat, unable to believe he was gone.

“Alpha,. Julie told us you wanted to see us,” someone called out as the door opened wide.

A curse word left my mouth as I placed down the frame turning towards the door. For me, for Alex, I had to keep fighting for our dreams.

Victor entered first, followed closely by Julie, and two young men dressed in nothing but black jeans and blue shirts that had the lodge logo. Behind them, an elderly woman entered, making my heart skip a beat. Years had passed since I saw her, but she still looked good. Miss Abby was for me and Alex like a second mother, scolding us every time we used to stop to check on the lodge.
