Trust

Lily was reading in her room, recovering from the days she had missed when she heard a call from Gerald. She wasn't used to his voice hence she didn't give a response. Rather she stopped her reading and walked out of the room. He was standing on the opposite side of her door. She shut the door and stopped in front of him.

“Are you busy? Am I disturbing you?” Gerald asked.

Lily shook her head.

“No. What's up?” She asked.

“I just wanted to speak to you about Harriet. It is not her fault that she turned out this way, it is all because of me. I didn't train her well so please take out your anger on me and not her.” He sighed.

“I am not angry with Harriet,” Lily replied. She hadn't even thought about Harriet in a long time. Perhaps it was because she didn't come out often. She didn't even eat dinner with them. She was always in her room studying and the maid brought her food to her most of the time.
