Chapter 39

Ash's point of view.

With the help of Anna and Bear, I finally pick up the courage to tell Dylan my story; at first, I see the admiration in his eyes, but that admiration quickly fades to realisation, and when I get to the final part, fear. The feeling I know too well is the fear of the unknown, the fear of realising that you're not the same as everyone else; there is something different, something that's a little inhuman.

I pull him into my arms as I say.

"We will get through this, kid; you're not on your own anymore; we're all here to help you."

Then my heart breaks as I watch him fall apart in my arms, Dylan has built walls around him all of his life, and it's hard to forget that he is just a child.

I should get it, though, because I've been in the exact same spot where he is right now, only I did it alone, but Dylan won't ever be alone in this. He has me and Anna and Bear, who I know from experience will help him to get control of his fears, and then lastly, there's Stan, the best
