Chapter 50

We stared at each other in an odd way, as if it were a silent argument. Our glances battled each other, until tears arose, and we found ourselves crying.

"Why did you do it?" I hiccuped, tears rolling down with the same quietness. He sighed, wiping his own tears, before rising from the hospital bed, and wandering toward the window with a curious slowness. His hand was curled around his stomach and he staggered in mental and physical pain.

I felt an urge to do something, to comfort him, but also myself. In a moment I pressed my lips against his, felt his body loosen and arms touch my shoulders. I chuckled beneath the salty tears, "It's payback." Then we hovered right there, quite soundless for so long, simply feeling each other's presence.

She grabs my arm. The one that’s covered in little angry red scars. My heart skips a beat. She doesn’t react. Did she know already? “How long?”
