Chapter 64I was expecting another memory, but I didn’t get it, which I thought was strange. It made me wonder if Damien had just not visited me that year, but I knew he did. He visited me every year. Chapter 69I walked to the elevator to the 7th floor and headed towards the suite at the end of the hall. I didn’t have to knock when I arrived because the door opened on its own. I stood there for a moment and then stepped inside, closing the door behind me softly. Max was at the bar pouring two drinks when I took a few steps further into the room, clearing my throat to announce my arrival. Not that he needed me to, he knew I was going to be early. I always was. He turned to face me, and he stopped dead in his tracks. I watched as his eyes roamed my entire figure, stopping only when he met my onyx eyes with his. He kept his emotions so buttoned up that I had no idea what he was thinking, but he was almost looking at me like I was a piece of meat. “See something you like?” I growled, hoping that he could hear the sarcasm in my voice.
