The Legendary Guest

“Oh, thank you... I must have slept off,” she said groggily, her voice laced with fatigue and confusion. She rubbed her eyes and peered outside the window, the sun peeking through the clear blue sky. The rain had stopped falling.

She rummaged through her bag and pulled out some cash to pay the cab driver, handing him the money he was owed and an extra tip for the inconvenience of having to wake her up.

“Thank you, madam,” the Indian driver said, bowing his head in gratitude, his eyes gleaming with appreciation.

Dr Ellen stumbled out of the cab, her body swaying slightly as she tried to regain her balance. She made her way to the car dealership, her feet dragging across the pavement.

Night had fallen on the earth, but Lucian's mansion was alive with light, illuminating the darkness that enveloped the city. Adams stood next to Lucian, who sat on his throne-like chair in his private quarters, a tobacco pipe in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other.
