Nueva felt the bright light and warmth from the sun on her face before she opened her eyes.
She was lying on her back with her tall, slender body resting on a soft mattress; the silky sheets felt cold against her bare skin. Her pale-yellow hair was damp from sweat, and the rose gold tones from the suns ray added to the ginger in her locks.
Two tall windows allowed sunlight to flood the spacious bedroom with natural light. Nueva could hear leaves rattling in the wind outside one of the partly open windows and the buzzing of flies as they crawled on the flaking wooden sill. There was a musky scent of fresh rain in the air.
As she opened her eyes, a slight headache started pulsating deep in the back, threatening to turn into a migraine, and her body felt stiff and sore from lying in the same position for hours. Meeting Perla. Nueva woke up alone, and for a moment, she thought that maybe what had happened last night had been a dream. The house was quiet; the only clue that Alpha Gray was awake was the faint scent of coffee. "Mm, Coffee," she thought, tasting the magic liquid already in her mouth, and that was enough to get her out of bed. The sun peered in through the sheer curtains, promising a beautiful day. Alpha Gray's pickup truck slid into the muddy ground as he came to an abrupt stop outside Perla's cottage. Nueva was still naked, sitting on the ground next to Perla, holding a piece of her ripped clothes against the bleeding wound on her upper leg.Perla leaned in and whispered, "There is a blanket right inside the front door. Go on, run and get it." Her smile was weak as the pain was making her tired.Nueva did what she said and ran up the small porch and opened the front door. The week had gone past pretty uneventful for Nueva. She had been to martial arts training for a couple of hours every day. Nueva was happy that Beta Declan intentionally paired her up with Araya for sparring every time. Araya made her feel relaxed, and they always had a good laugh while training.
