CHAPTER 16

The strange room was silent as I lay in bed. My ankle hurt even worse and my head was throbbing violently. I was still trying to grasp everything that just happened and it didn't make the slightest sense to me. One minute, it seemed he was concerned for me, and the next moment, he was yelling at me with fury in his eyes. The door opened and Martha entered the room with a glass of water. She said nothing as she handed it over to me and I took a drink from it.

"You were supposed to stay in your room" her voice wasn't biting or accusing. Just calm without any emotion.

"I wanted to take a walk"

"And you had to end up at the cave of all places?" I didn't even know about the existence of the cave. Neither did I think it would make the king so upset.

"He's not as mad as I expected him to be. That cave has been closed off for years. Nobody ever goes there. It's a good thing he didn't lose his cool so much. But there's no telling what he would do next" Martha mumbled, pacing in front of the
