Chapter 48
We fell asleep in each other’s arms soon after.
Both completely naked and spent from the love making.
But our reprieve didn’t last for long. My heat was not done with us yet.
And when I woke up once again in a hot sweat, the first thing I sought out was Alexander’s form next to me.
Much to my surprise, he was still there, holding me close to him. Unlike me, he was wide awake and casting his watchful gaze upon me.
“It’s started again.” I whisper, feeling my cheeks heat at the embarrassment of the situation we found ourselves in.
“I know.” Was all said as he shuffled down the bed and back under the covers.
“You know?”
“I can smell you little mate.” He all but growls, taking me by surprise as his lips come down and place a tender kiss on the mound of my breast. I suck in a moan at the electric shock that it spikes in my chest.

Alexander Every day for the last three weeks I had been hauled up in the council rooms, trying to come up with a war plan. It had been a long and arduous process. Rosalie There is something quite sad about sitting alone of Christmas Eve, drinking wine and staring out into the night sky waiting to welcome in the start of Christmas. Yet here I was. Alone. Sitting in front of the fire, waiting, or rather hoping that Alexander will eventually make an appearance. All the preparations had been made for the first day of festivities. Tomorrow would be the feast day. Hampers full of food and gifts would be passed around to the villagers around the castle and the travellers who had arrived seeking refuge. And then in the evening there would be a great party in the main hall. All of the nobles and their families were invited. The hall would be filled with the sound of laughter and joy by nightfall. Spurred on by the dejected faces of so many around the castle who were missing loved ones and friends who were unable to be with us, I was determined to make this the best Christmas yet.
