As soon as I stepped foot out of the great hall, the sounds of people having fun echoing down the halls behind me, I could feel my body begin to shift. Hairs growing over every inch of my body, my bones cracking as I transformed from human to wolf.

I could feel every second of the pain of transforming and I welcomed it as an old friend. The moment that the glass cut into my flesh as I fled from the castle and the hit of the icy cold wind as I ran. All of it was nothing in comparison to the pain that I felt in my heart.

My wolf stopped atop the highest point of my lands and howled into the night. Not that anyone would have heard.
