Lucien's POV

As we walk, Jacob turns to me, a worried look on his face. "What if Aurora recognizes us?" he asks, his voice low and afraid. I can't help but grin. "Then we'll fight," I say, my voice calm and matter-of-fact. He looks at me like I'm crazy, but I just shrug. We round a corner and run into a group of guards, their eyes suspicious. Jacob stiffens, but I meet their gaze head-on, my face impassive.

As we walk, I can't help but notice the number of people in the building. There are far more people here than I expected, and they all seem to be up to something. My attention is caught by a glint of silver, and I see a group of men mocking and abusing my maids, Silver being mocked for her age and how slow she is. I'm furious, but I know I can't do anything right now. I can feel my hands balling into fists, and Jacob notices. He whispers to me, "Please don't interfere," his voice urgent and pleading. He's right, of course.

We continue on, and we finally reach the door to Aurora's room. I can't
