Thank you so much for all your love for this book. I know updates are slow and I do apologise. But, if you could find it in your heart to give me a review or drop some gems it will help this book be seen more. I’m still getting used to my writing pattern so I will try and create an updating schedule for both books. Be sure to follow me on social media to check it out.
Libby POVI don’t wake Pierce up, I wanted to be alone for my run this morning. I wanted time to think. What was Evelyn keeping from Reuben, keeping from me.It felt good just to run, letting my mind think about things. Think about what I want.Last night was the first time I had let anybody get close to me for a long time. I’m not just talking about physically…Anwir was a touchy feely person but I never let him close to me like I did with Pierce last night. It felt natural to talk to him, he doesn’t seem to judge me like others. That, a part of him understands what I’ve been through, that I just need time.I’ve been running for some time now, I would say a good hour. I was still slow, I was human after all. I didn’t run like my werewolf counterparts. I continue to run until I come to a treeline, somewhere I hadn’t been to before. I stop abruptly looking around trying to figure out where I was. I clearly hadn’t been paying attention whilst letting my mind work through the chaos.
Libby POVEvelyn and I were walking through the large shopping centre, with some of her royal warriors discreetly following us. It felt weird to be in a public location and not worry about the cameras that were everywhere. It left an unnerving tingle on the back of my neck not trying to hide, not trying to outwit the technology for once. It felt so open…vulnerable even though I was far from it with the additional muscle. I didn’t like it, I felt too exposed. I had messaged Natascha to arrange a drop off. She told me to enter a particular pharmacy but only when I have bags of shopping to hide the tablets in. I was all set, I was just trying to break away from Evelyn without raising suspicion.I had located the pharmacy before lunch, biding my time until I could be alone. Evelyn had treated me to everything which was very kind of her, but I had my own money. I had Mum’s money…and I felt ready to have that discussion with Father. To have full responsibly for Mum’s estate and busine
Libby POV“Libby, your Father..he’s dead.”“What?” Why would she say such a thing.“You can’t feel it because your wolf is supressed, but he has been dead for some time.” Natascha takes a step closer to me as she checks over the top of the pharmacy aisle to check that it was still safe to speak. “Why are you saying this?” I seethe at her, what a lie to weave. “Because it’s the truth, Reuben and Evelyn killed him after killing my own Father.” I search her expression, her eyes for a hint of a lie but I can’t find any signal that what she is telling me isn’t true. But I refuse to believe her, I have never trusted her yet she was my only source for the tablets. I had no choice but to keep her in my life at arms length when I was hiding from everyone else. “No…” I can’t fathom what she is saying, it isn’t registering into my brain.“I’m sorry to be the one to tell you.” Her hand strokes at my forearm, her touch doing nothing to quell the anger rising within me. “How long? How long ago?
Pierce POV “What time are Libby and Evelyn due back?” I ask Reuben above the normal loudness of the kids. “Nate messaged to say he was back with them, shouldn’t be long.” “Uncle Pierce, higher!” Elspeth squeals at me. “Oh, sorry Elspeth darling.” The twins had made full use of me today, not only was I pushing Elspeth on the swing but I had also been a horse, a monster and my personal favourite, a pirate. Not long after, the Lunas had returned. Evelyn, now a ball full of energy for her lunch out and time away from the kids, ran into the garden wrapping the twins into her chest. The two of them complaining of being unable to breathe from her tightness. Whereas Libby seemed, quiet. She stood by the back doors, not entering the garden…her eyes on Reuben. In fact she kept trying to melt away in the background as we all re-entered the house together. Something was wrong. “Libby?” I call after her as she starts to climb the stairs. “I’m just going to put these away…” She rus
Evelyn POVLibby has been quiet since we returned back from our day together. I had put it down to her not feeling well because she barely touches her food at dinner, and doesn’t contribute to the flow of conversation at all. Not even with the children. She only hugs them and places a kiss on their head when they go up to bed. Miss Smith taking Angel up to bathe him, whilst we finish talking amongst ourselves. Pierce was also quiet, his hands had been touching Libby in any kind of way during dinner and now again, as we have retired into the sitting room with after dinner coffees.“Libby, is everything okay?” I perch on the edge of my seat, as Reuben talks with Nate and Noah.“Why would anything be wrong?” She mutters under her breath, her mug of coffee in her hands, untouched.“I wondered if I had done something to upset you today…”“Today?” She can’t seem to look at me. “Whilst out. If I did it would have been unintentional.” All over dinner I had been thinking if I did something
Libby POV I was alone, I was an orphan. Not only had my Mother died but now my Father…the culprit, the one that killed him standing before me acting as if he did nothing wrong. “I don’t know who you think you are but you aren’t God.” Her certainly acts as if he is. “No, but I am the King so you fucking better like it if you wish to remain here with my family.” His frame was trying to intimidate me, trying to make me submit but I managed to sneak a tablet in…my human side overpowers my wolf side once more. I can argue with him and not submit, I can be the one to tell him some truths. “I’m not staying anywhere near you.” I sarcastically laugh out. “Oh really? You think you can return back to the farm?” “No, I’m going to Pierce’s pack…I’m going to live with him. He may have kept the truth from me but in some kind of warped weirdness, I understand why he did it. He was trying to protect me from the heartache, whereas you were only trying to protect yourself.” I can’t loo
Libby POVHow can my caravan have so much condensation in one night. All I do is breathe. It’s not as if I am having wild rampant sex in it all night. Although, I do often dream of a certain somebody licking me all over. Which then results in me waking in the early hours covered in sweat and a prolonged unsatisfied need that doesn’t leave me until mid morning. But it means I did wake up cold. Thankfully, I had a good night sleep last night, no dreaming of a certain male who I promised myself I would never think about again. What would be the point. That was my past life. As I make myself a morning cup of coffee, I push open my caravan door desperate to let fresh air circulate on this early spring morning. It was 5am and the sun still seemed hours away from rising and overpowering the soft moon’s glow. It was dark, cold and silent...just how I liked it.I was already wrapped in 4 layers of clothing, it was still cold in the mornings but nothing compared to the freezing nights o
Libby POV I have enough time to revisit the married farmer’s house and collect their personal chicken eggs for today. They said I could, said I could help myself whilst they were away. They seem to trust me, they don’t let anybody else do it. I plan to use the eggs to make pancakes for dessert tonight. Beth was looking a little bit too gaunt for my liking. I noticed at breakfast she gave Ben her sausages, claiming she wasn’t hungry. Her brother, being of the muscular type, is known for spending all his money on extra food. She must worry that he isn’t getting enough nutrients. He’ll come back later today with bags of food from the town’s supermarket. He can’t help himself. I don’t think Beth was full though, I think she is kind. But she’s not eating enough to keep her own energy levels maintained for this labour intensive workload. And it is hard work, there’s a reason it is called manual labour. Beth is a lot older than my niece Elspeth, 10 years in fact, but she makes me thi
