“Did you come to watch the practice, Luna?” A man with dark locs that trail past his shoulder blades questions in a booming voice. I repress a shiver at the power it controls, registering how the latter leaks out of him as if searching for a vessel to occupy.

It takes laser focus on breathing evenly that no trembles are heard in my response. “On another day, maybe. But today, I am here to practice myself.”

“Oh.” The tattoo—a half-moon around which strings of pearls cluster—below his ribcage ripples as he swivels to exchange pointed looks with his partners. The men don’t care enough to conceal the surprise on their faces or the subtle wariness that their ticking muscles present.

“Is there a problem?” I speak louder than my usual, demanding the update I apparently missed. Wade shows upturned hands to me, equally as confused at this development. Neither he nor I know what the fuss is about.

“None at all, Luna.” The same wolf replies again. Clearly, he is the h
