"My queen, my queen", the sound of Rosa calling out to her, brought Rayne back from her stunned state.
She blinked her eyes repeatedly and looked at Rosa.
"My queen, are you alright?", Rosa asked worriedly.
"I'm... I'm fine", Rayne answered.
"Should I call for the doctor?", Anthony offered and as soon as he spoke, it felt like the temperature in the room had dropped.
Rayne who had been focused on Rosa now slowly turned to look at him. The look in her eyes was unfathomable as she stared at him but her gaze made him uncomfortable.
"Yes please", Rosa answered.
"No, no need. I'm fine, I promise. I just need a little rest"
"Well then you should rest, let me help you to your bed", Rosa suggested.
"Let me help, my queen", Anthony suddenly offered.
"No", Rayne answered immediately and with such force that surprised both Rosa and Anthony.
Realizing how she must have sounded, Rayne smiled softly at Anthony.
"I mean, there's really no need. I'm fine, I can get to my bed just fine with Rosa", Rayne told him.
"Oh alright. I overstepped as well", Anthony said and smiled charmingly at her.
Rayne's eyes squinted at his smile. Anthony's smile froze. He didn't understand it, she was clearly smiling at him but there was something about the look in her eyes that felt cold.
"My queen, come", Rosa said as she helped Rayne to her bed.
"Thank you, Rosa", Rayne thanked her when she was lying down on her bed.
She looked up at Anthony.
"I'm sorry but I can't host you properly", she said with an apologetic smile.
"It's ok. It's my duty to serve and I'm just glad I had an opportunity to", Anthony replied with his signature charming smile.
"Hm. Thank you once again for helping me", Rayne thanked him.
"It was my honor", Anthony replied.
"Rosa will show you out", Rayne told him.
"This way please", Rosa said immediately and began to walk towards the door.
Anthony followed behind her. Rayne stared at his back intently, her eyes staring intently at him. Before leaving the room, Anthony turned and gave Rayne another glance. She had her eyes closed.
'That's weird', Anthony thought to himself.
He was sure he had felt someone staring intently at him. He shrugged and closed the door softly behind him.
Hearing the sound of the door closing, Rayne slowly opened her eyes. She stared intently at the door, her mind was in chaos. She stood up from the bed and rushed to the mirror. She stared at her reflection for a few seconds and began to slowly untie her gown. She stared at her naked body in the mirror and drew in a sharp breath, there was not even a scar on her body.
How was this possible? How could she be alive? She had died. She was sure of it. That bastard had stabbed her and she had died, so how was she still alive? And how did she end up here? She remembered when she was. This was two years before she died. The first time she and Anthony had met after he had saved her. An accident he had planned as he confessed when she was bleeding out on the floor in front of him. So not only was she alive, she had also gone back in time, to when they had just met but how? She remembered her last moments, how her heart had broken when she heard Anthony's words, how she hoped repeatedly that it wasn't true, how they had laughed at her, Anthony and her best friend, the more she thought of it, the more her anger grew until she was overwhelmed with blinding rage.
She also remembered asking for a second chance. She remembered as she was struggling with consciousness she had wished she could do it all over again. Was that it? Had the moon goddess heard her and granted her her wish? It was possible. As Rayne was lost in her thoughts, there was a knock on the door.
"Hold on", Rayne answered and hastily began to dress up.
She patted down her gown and looked at herself in the mirror to make sure she was well dressed. Satisfied that she looked presentable, she called out,
"Come in!"
"Finally! What took you so long?", a tiny female voice said as the door burst open.
Sophia walked in.
Rayne watched her as she walked in, her eyes cold. Sophia had been her best friend since they were children. She was the daughter of her father's Beta so they had basically grown up together. She was the first person she got close to and the only person she could call her friend. They had been so close that they were almost inseparable, to Rayne she had been more than just a friend, she had been her sister and Rayne had loved her and looked out for her. There was nothing Sophia had ever asked of her that Rayne didn't oblige to her. To Rayne, anything that was her's ws Sophia's as well. That was how close they were. But in the end Sophia had betrayed her. The pain from her betrayal was great but the anger Rayne felt now was greater.
"Rayne, how are you feeling?", Sophia asked.
"Fine. I feel better", Rayne answered her with a smile.
"That is wonderful. You had us all so worried", Sophia said with a pout.
Rayne used to find her pout cute but not now.
"Soooo I heard a young man helped you back?", Sophia asked as she sat on Rayne's bed.
"Yes, that's true", Rayne answered gently.
"Hmm, is he handsome?", Sophia asked him.
Rayne stared intensely at Sophia for a few seconds before replying,
"I'm not sure.... Is he?", Rayne answered her.
Sophia was flustered for a few seconds but quickly composed herself.
"I don't know", she answered sharply.
"I mean, I wouldn't know. I didn't see him", she added.
"But I heard some of the maids whispering so I wondered", she explained.
"Hmm...", Rayne hummed in response as she stared at Sophia.
Her gaze made Sophia very uncomfortable and she avoided Rayne's eyes but she tried not to show how uncomfortable she was.
"Well I'm not really sure... I didn't really pay attention to his looks", Rayne told her.
"Oh", Sophia responded.
Rayne smirked at the slight disappointment on Sophia's face.
"But if he comes again, I'll make sure to call you", Rayne offered.
Sophia's face immediately lit up after hearing her words.
"Really?", she asked Rayne excitedly.
"Yes", Rayne nodded in response.
"That would be nice", Sophia replied, trying not to sound so excited but Rayne could see it in her eyes.
"I have to go now, I have some errands to run", Sophia said as she stood up from Rayne's bed.
"I'll come back to see you later in the evening", Sophia told Rayne and hugged her.
Rayne returned her hug. Now when she held Sophia in her embrace and Sophia could not see her expression, the gentle smile that was on her face before disappeared. Her eyes were cold and her expression dark.
Rayne didn't know the real reason why she had been granted a second chance. She didn't fully understand how it had happened but one thing she knew for sure was that she was not going to waste it. She was going to use it well to correct all her mistakes and take her revenge. Oh yes, she was going to take her revenge on all those who had wronged and betrayed her. Starting with that bastard Anthony and her two faced best friend, Sophia.
As Anthony laid down on his bed, his mind replayed his meeting with Luna earlier. After the accident, Anthony had been going to the place for the past three days without fail, hoping she would be awake already and he could meet her. He was already becoming impatient, wondering if he had overdid things and if she would ever wake up. He needed her to wake up, he needed to meet her, that was why he had planned the entire accident in the first place. As luck would have it, she had woken up today, he could breathe easy. He replayed the meeting in his head, she seemed gentle and kind. And she was certainly very beautiful, Anthony remembered her features well. She was about 5'4ft tall, and had long blonde hair. Her face was heart shaped, her eyes were moon shaped and they were the most beguiling turquoise green. She had a pointed nose and full lips. He also remembered her soft smile that gave her a gentle and elegant aura.'With looks like that, this doesn't really have to be torture for me'
With her being the game changer and the master of the game, she’s decided not to take it slowly on the two traitorsShe stared at Sophia shyly as she watched her dazzling at Anthony’s beauty. It took the clearing of Rayne’s throat for Sophia to leave Anthony’s hand. She saw how Sophia immediately adjusted herself as she stared stunningly at Anthony’s face and that was how it began.“Okay, so if you wouldn’t mind. I was about to step out for lunch, can you come along?” Rayne asked, leading the way already.“Oh! A dinner with my Luna? That’ll be awesome, I'd really love that” Anthony exclaimed, oblivious of Sophia’s dazzling eyes on him.Sophia just couldn’t wrap her head around this man’s warmness, she felt heavenly around him.“What about you Sophia? Would you come?” Rayne asked, already knowing what her answer would be.“Errm…I couldn’t get you Rayne…oh! For the dinner, I won’t be able to join you. I have a ball to attend to…” Sophie said, already getting misplaced. She watched as th
“Rosa, I’ve been trying to get across that Anthony of a guy…” Mary, one of the palace maids asked.“Get across? Don’t tell me it’s literally what I’m thinking” Rosa asked, surprised.“What are you thinking? C’mon, how would I know that…but don’t you see that the guy has good intentions towards our Luna…he’s really caring if you ask me……” Mary answered. “I can’t really believe you’re falling for that snitch of a guy, he seems weird. He’s acting up if you ask me” Rosa said, trimming the flowers.“He’s not a snitch, he’s just a random gentle man who cares for the safety and feelings of our Luna, you shouldn’t take such things for granted” Mary answered, oblivious of her loud voice which caught Rayne’s attention. “Tell that to our Luna when you get to her presence, I’m sure she’ll rip your head off” Rosa said sarcastically, as they all burst into laughter.“But come to think of it, don’t you think Sophia the Luna’s friend has an ulterior motive, the way she acts all worked up towards th
“Where would we get that?” Anthony muttered in silence.“There’s something really up with that book, it contains some deep mysteries if you ask me…” Cole confirmed. He has been the right hand man of Anthony all this while, he’s from the same pack with him but lost his father at a tender age.“So what do you think we can do? Where did you get the book from in the first place?” Anthony asked, holding the book as he paced around the room.“My father…” Cole answered“Your father ? What has he got to do with the book?” Anthony asked, seeming less enthusiastic.“I got the book from my father dude, he passed it to me before his death” Cole answered back.“Relax man, I don’t seem to get it…your father did?” Anthony asked again, seeming interested now.“Yeah, he was on the verge of his death when he threw the book at me”*** ** FLASHBACK ** ** *It was a bloody feud between the Mooners pack and Maroon pack, their enmity between them has lingered for long as they felt this war would probably st
Chapter EightRayne walked across the pathway of the kingdom palace paying strict attention to the guards who walked past her or she saw, the way she had been granted access to the palace gate was one that still surprised her.She had not hoped to be given this warm welcome at all, and since she received it, being surprised seems to be an understatement that explained her expression. She knew her Father could only be the one who could command the guards to honor her that way, I mean what’s it with the royal bows she kept receiving from every guards she walked past, not to talk of being brought in to the palace by a white little baby horse, the signet ring given to her and even the royal clip attached to her hair. This all concluded that something was overly fishing which Rayne hoped to crack soon. She stopped at the pathway leading to the throne where she knew her father was, she stopped at hearing a guards voice coming in her way, she quickly hid herself so as to eaves drop on their
She turned back and saw him with a trembling face and her voice, she kneeled…“What are you looking for here” the pack counselor asked, he had not walked a mile away when he remembered that he forgot an important note in the palace and he knew that information could cost him a lot, hence the reason why he came back.“My Lord, i… i… i… ca… me f… or Ra…yne my lord” Sophia asked, losing the ability to speak good English as she stammered.“Rayne ? She left here some moments ago, didn’t you see her?” The pack counselor asked, not believing her.“I didn't know my Lord… so I decided to check over here” Sophia answered.“So, who gave you access to the palace, the guard already told me no one was in, so how did you get in here” he asked, not still convinced.“Ermm… i… i… actually… I actually bypassed the guards”“Bypassed the guards?”“No, not that… the guards weren’t there, so I decided to come in since I had an important information for her,” Sophia said, fidgeting. The pack counselor looked
Chapter TenSophia and Anthony held hands along the path as they walked together, whilst Anthony kept looking back in intervals as if conscious of someone trailing him … and his instincts were right, two enemies were on his trail.“I always knew that bitch would compromise , and she keeps acting overly when the princess is there,” Lyla said, partner to Rosa the maid.“I knew she wasn’t who we thought she was, she’s always been a traitor,” Rosa commented, coming out of their hiding place.“Who could have thought she could try picking on that dude … she knew the princess was his friend” lyla said, as she crossed the little tree they were watching them from…“I really don’t blame her, I know there’s something up that Dudes sleeve … Anthony or whatever he calls himself, he is more less of a real traitor … he has other plans I’m sure…” Rosa said, as they crossed the path opposite the route Anthony took.“Huhhuh” Lyla chuckled softly.“You sound like they’ve been in your dark script for a w
Chapter Eleven“So where’s the note now?” Fred asked.“It should be around there my king…” He said, pointing to where he sat during the meeting.A guard motioned to go check the book out where he sat, but he was stopped by Fred.“Hey! To w here ? ” Fred asked, stopping the guard“I was about to check out the seat My Lord …” the guard said, bowing in honor‘That’s not yours to decide …” he said, “Get back to your duty post and await my order now” he snarled as the guard ran back to the throne path where he was assigned to.“Go get it dude” Fred smirked. Ricardo the Pack counselor hurried to the seat, where he forgot the book, but he was surprised to only see an empty space, a signal to him that the note wasn’t there.“So, what’s wrong my friend?” Fred asked, approaching Ricardo who was fidgeting.“I could swear that it was here my Lord, I really can’t lie to yo u my King '' he retarded, going on his knees.“Then who was the intruder …” Fred fumed, his voice shaking the walls of the pal
