82. Creating weapons

ALPHA ASHER'S POV.

I turned to Lia. "Hey, I need you to go back to our chambers. I can't have you out here, it's not safe," I said, my voice firm but gentle.

She looked up at me with a determined expression, "I want to help. I want to be here for you," she replied.

I placed a hand on her shoulder, "I know you do, but I need you to be safe. I can't focus on finding the attackers if I'm worried about your safety."

She hesitated for a moment, her eyes scanning my face before she finally relented. "Fine, I'll go back," she said, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

I leaned down and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. "I'll come find you as soon as I can," I promised.

As she walked away with one of the guards, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for sending her away. But I knew it was for the best. I had to protect my mate at all costs, and that meant keeping her out of harm's way.
