Book 2: Chapter 25

King Faris POV

I walk into the royal mansion that has been passed down through the generations of Lycan Kings. It is late, and all of the Omegas have since retired for the night. My footsteps echo as I walk through the empty mansion. But it wasn't always this way.

The mansion used to be full of lycans and werewolves all hours of the day and night. But that was when my mate, Kayla, was still around. That is when things were still normal. It was before a league of assassins were killing in my name and before I began running Chow through the books of the City's businesses secretly.

I go to the kitchen to find my dinner in the fridge. It was left for me by one of the Omegas. Placing the plate in the microwave, I sit at the bar and pour myself a glass of whiskey. It is something that Kayla would have pitched a fit over, but without her here, her rules no longer matter.

He’s still a jerk. Of course he doesn’t care abt Willow since she isn’t truly his niece nor anything. Or am I wrong?
