THREADS OF THE PAST

My eyebrows arched imperceptibly, a subtle response that barely betrayed the surprise that I felt from the collision. I glanced at Asher and Alyssa, their eyes widened in amusement, and I could sense the beginnings of a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. With practiced composure, I straightened my posture, a stoic resolve settling over me like a cloak of authority. My eyes bore into hers, a silent acknowledgment of her presence, as I awaited her next move.

Stepping closer, Asher's mischievous eyes sparkled with amusement. "I see you've met our librarian, Lucy," he chuckled.

I nodded, offering a polite smile. "Yes, it was quite the introduction," I remarked, a hint of amusement lacing my voice. "You certainly know how to make an impression."

Lucy, fumbling with her fingers blushed and stammered out an apology. Her scatterbrained nature was evident in her disoriented demeanour. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you like that. My mind tends to wander off at times."
