AMANISA’S POV

Slow and steady wins the race, they said but the slow and steady I was experiencing wasn't winning a race of any kind.

It was draining my life, in fact.

The slow intake of breath was becoming suffocating.

The steady rise and fall of my chest, as I struggled to breathe, was just as painful as the lump in my heart.

So much for slow and steady.

I have been through so many challenges and dark moments but this day was the most challenging. I wasn't plotting revenge neither was I trianninhbhard to defeat my so-called enemies.

However, life was slowly slipping out of my fingertips with every minute that passed.

My body was freezing.

Yes, I was sick. Or better still, I was dying.

Ever since Violet left hours ago, I have been burning up, throwing us, and groaning for help but no one cared enough to check on me.

Although I was coming down with something before she paid me the unwanted visit, I could have sworn she found a way to poison me with one of her family's toxic.
