KING ARCHIE’S POV

My heart stopped beating yet my legs found their way through the water and through the heap of rusty leaves. I beat myself for putting Amanisa on my back which was more like I used her body as a shield to protect myself.

Again, I blamed myself for Amanisa’s discomfort and I lost myself the moment she inhaled deeply and exhaled without taking in another. Yet, my legs hurried to get her to safety.

She couldn't be dead…

However, I couldn't be sure.

With all she had to endure during the past few days, coupled with the lost blood that sipped out of her body through her thigh, it wouldn't be shocking if her body give up completely.

Also, I couldn't be sure that the arrows that were shot by the mysterious attackers that had their faces covered and scent masked when they approach my men and me, weren't poisoned… what kind of poison would it be if they had laced the arrows? What effect would the poison have on Amanisa’s deteriorating health?

I was losing my mind.
