91. Less Outrageous

AMANISA’S POV

“He lacks the sense of humor.”

Arla commented when Kovan finally stopped pulling me. He stopped in front of the throne room. My joke was dark but it was a means to an end. It was my way of evading Kovan’s inquiries about my presence at Violet’s quarters.

“Why, Amanisa? It’s understandable that you haven't figured out the whole situation but we know more than enough to help Kovan.”

Arla added while I wondered what was going on through Kovan’s head. Did he really drag me here because he believed my words? Idiot! He doesn't know to believe me when I say the truth but while I joke, he took my words to heart.

“What were you really there for, Amanisa?”

Kovan asked me. His continence has changed and for some reason, I sensed that he believed I must have heard something that could help him.

“Did you drag me here to sk me that again or you brought me here to call a meeting where my execution would be discussed–”

“I didn't know what you are trying to prove, Amanisa but trust me
