“D…does this mean that we can’t be together?” Sophie asked and I turned to look at her, my brows raised in confusion.

The expectant and hopeful look on my face made me hold back on my words and asked a more important question. “What are you talking about?”

Sophie looked at Paul, then at her maidservant and then back at me. I could tell what she wanted but there was no chance I was staying in a room alone with Sophie.
