“I don’t want to have anything to do with you or your lineage anymore,” the woman went on. “I’m done with you all.”

“But my leader,” said Martha, intervening for me. “You cannot stand against her for the sins of her parents. It was not her fault.”

“It might not be her fault but her parents didn’t make that easier for any of us in this room. Have you forgotten how difficult it was to start over? Werewolves are a chaos machine. The minute you bring one, another follows, and another, until the entire pack is overrun with them.

“They are like diseases but worse. At least there is a cure for diseases. Give me a cure for werewolves.”

Everyone murmured in agreement with her. I could not take it anymore so I turned around and started for the door.

“Wait!” Martha called running to hold me back.

“Let me go!” I yelled.

“No, I will not. We can still work through this.”

“Let her go already!” yelled the woman on the throne. “She knows the right thing to do. She is not one of us.”
