Chapter 47: Have To Dig

My mate kept looking around, suddenly not so focused on the task in front of us. I smiled, though. I found it adorable how she needed to look around and take everything in. She seemed like a small child who had to investigate everything around her and make sure she didn’t miss anything. I knew she wanted answers, but it was clear they suddenly weren’t so important to her.

“Like what you see?” I asked teasingly.

She focused on me again, looking almost surprised.

“Huh?”

“My office.”

“It’s huge,” she said.

I chuckled and nodded.

“There’s enough room.”

“Enough room? You could fit an army in here,” she joked, and we both laugh. I think the sound surprised us both, and we looked at each other.

“It’s good to hear you laugh,” I told her.

“Don’t tell my aunt.”

“Why not?”

“Because she will never stop talking about anything else.”

“She just wants you to be happy,” I said.

“I know… I understand.”

“So, why do you almost judge her for it?”

“I don’t…”

“No?”

You can’t push people who are traumatized. It takes time and the right people, sometimes talking about it is reliving it.
