I honestly don’t know what I expected to happen when Liam came to see me. Levi means more to him than anyone else, of course he would choose his brother over a fated bond. Not only that, but from the look of things, he doesn’t feel this pull the same way I do.

One sided mate bond; who would have thought meeting my mate would be so disappointing?

I’m in the kitchen busy with cooking dinner at the moment, getting lost in the routine of it all. Some might find this monotonous, but I find comfort in knowing what’s supposed to come next. Delayed trauma from having my life planned out for me? Probably.

“It smells good in here,”

I drop the knife I’m holding and spin around to see Levi standing in the doorway with a sweet smile on his face. He hasn’t been home in days, and just looking at him right now…I don’t feel that excitement I used to feel.

“Hey,” I say and walk toward him. “You didn’t let me know you’re back.”

He wraps his arms around me and breathes in a sigh as he hugs me
