Chapter 43

I suddenly heard a snap. I turned my head to the direction of the sound. Then, I heard a shuffling noise and a continuous thumping sound. I stood up for a few minutes before realizing what I was hearing—a wolf running with a pounding heart. But the thing was miles away. Far enough to strain a werewolf’s hearing.

I blinked in surprise. Sure, I could hear everything else around me, but the things I had heard before were in sight and close by.
