Ninety-Seven

I fight the heaviness in my head. As I hear loud voices not far from me, I fight and open my eyes to see 2 dark figures just outside the doorway.

"You said I could keep her..."

"That was before she became one of them..."

"So, what! Conrad, she is still mine..."

"No! I have other plans for her now... I have a meeting set up in a couple of days..."

"A meeting? A meeting for what? You taught me that we needed to kill them and kill them all... Why did you take these ones? Why not kill them? Why let me take her and then not let me keep her?"

"I said you could keep her, but that was before I found out that she is no longer human... Besides, I have something else planned for them... And it has been much more profitable than just killing them... Not every kill has a bounty or reward attached to it, so I needed another way to make some money to pay for all my expenses. Nothing is free."

I move slightly and can't stop the low groan that leaves my lips, one of the figures stops pacing and looks

So she just put on a show because she’s a show off. Got it. I’m starting to hate reading this book.

Really!!!! Wow! Okay, so she has a reoccurring nightmare about Val taking her, but when she wakes up she is super chill. Doesn't try to pretend to be captured until the drugs wear off and escape but showers and does exercises. WTF!
