Chapter 45: Taken

Grace didn’t mean to, but she did cry when Xan came to visit her the last time before going back to China. She desperately tried to hold it in as she did not want to make him feel any worse, but the feelings and possibly the pain medication overwhelmed her.

“It is ok my Phoenix, I will be back as soon as I can. Then the next time I go home, you be coming with me as my wife!” Xan said with a smile as he wiped away Grace’s tears.

“Let me come with you! I can help, I am sure!" Grace begged.

“You know it is not possible, you are still recovering from surgery and can not fly! You have a job already: planning the wedding and getting to know my sister!” Xan said softly as he stroked her hair.

“I like your sister already, she is a hoot!” Grace said and it was true.
