Chapter 97

Mia’s pov

Sadness clung heavily to every space in my chest as I dragged myself out of the bed.

I had woken up with my thoughts of my twin sister hanging heavily in my mind, and it had come along with a wave of sadness. As I bearily washed up, my mind soured even more as various memories began to flood through my mind.

Maeve and I used to wash up together like this, standing side by side since we were very little. We had a bond so beautiful, it made so many kids envious.

The school we went to, we were popular in it, not just because we were twins, but because of the family we were from. It made us quite popular. We had to get accompanied by guards everywhere; even to school, but the guards stayed outside of the classes. That prevented us from socializing with other kids our age while growing up, but because we were two, it didn’t affect us, we were never bothered by it, because we had each other to keep ourselves company.
