Death

I saw the fear flash across Mirianda’s face at my statement. And even though it lasted for only a second, I was still able to catch it, and damn, did that make me feel so good. It was good that she still remembered what I was capable of if pushed to the wall, it was good that she remembered what I had done to her brother.

Her face returned to its original scowling form, and she hissed angrily thereafter. Putting up a brave front, I guess.

“Don’t keep me waiting Miranda...what is the matter? Why did you disturb my sleep?” I asked, hanging on to my last thread of patience.

“Well, there are two reasons. Firstly..” she paused, staring at me deeply before taking two steps back. I hoped then that whatever reason this was for her stepping away from me in fear didn’t include touching the cookies Kaden had purchased for me the previous day.

Before I and Lucy had reached home, he had taken us to a little shopping under the guise that he had wanted something for himself; the rest was history.
