After the mafia doctor took Alek back to the examination room, the thought of running crossed my mind. I saved him. Maybe he wouldn't come after me.
I sat in the front room of this tiny house, which I'm guessing, was just for these purposes. My leg bouncing anxiously as I bit my nails, trying to figure out what I should do.
Would he kill my father? Would he kill us both? Or worse, would he kill everyone I've ever loved and leave me alone for the rest of my life? All these thoughts coursed through my brain.
"Hey, he wants to see you."
I glanced up to the doctor who stood in the doorway, then stood walking towards him. "How long have you been the doctor for his mafia?" I questioned.
"We grew up together. I only chose a different path." He answered.
I shook my head, disappointed. "Not really. They still involve you in their lies and murderous ways." I retorted.
The doctor only looked at the floor, knowing I was right, then brought his eyes back to mine. "You're right, but I am not the murderer."
With a glare, I replied. "Don't be so sure." then I brushed past the doctor.
When I walked into the room, Alek sat on the table. I glanced around, seeing all the gauze filled with blood. "Shouldn't you be laying down or something?"
Alek looked up but doubled over in pain, but yet his familiar smirk still played on his lips. "Hey, Bar..." He winced, losing his words.
I lifted a brow, feeling satisfied by his pain. "That's what you get for trying to call me Barbie."
A laugh escaped him. "What should I call you then?"
"Here's a thought, maybe the name my mother gave me."
Alek chuckled, almost falling over. "Ugh, FUCK."
Not sure what came over me, but I hurried to his side. "Would you stop defying me and lay the hell down!" He gave me an annoyed look. "What?" I shrugged. "I'm taking pointers from you. Aren't you proud?" I laughed.
Alek shook his head. "I'm regretting this deal."
"Oh, okay, so we could just call it even, and I leave, letting you have a wonderful life full of murder and mayhem." His expression turned to annoyance real quick. I shrugged once again, thinking it was a perfect solution. "What? You said you regretted it."
Alek eyed me, then glanced down. "Why did you tell me about Damon instead of letting him go through with it?"
I took a seat next to him on the table. We looked at each other for a moment. "I would not let them be backstabbing assholes and see you ambushed, even if you stole my life. That would make me the same, a murderer." I answered.
"Well, thanks." He said gratefully.
Jumping off the table, I faced him. "Sure," I said, then walked towards the waiting room when Alek spoke.
"Go home Barbie. The deal is off."
I spun back around, stunned. "WHAT?! Really?" I asked, baffled. "You won't come after my father?"
Alek shook his head, but his eyes showed pain and not from the wound. "GO!" He growled.
It caused me to jump. His deep voice echoed the room and without another word, I ran out of the building into the dark night sky.
Out of breath, I stopped at the end of the street, not really sure how to get home from here. I searched the area and saw a small convenience store about half a mile, so I took off running again.
Bursting through the door, the clerk looked at me, terrified. “You okay?”
Bent over, I tried to catch my breath. “Yes.” I paused out of air. “Can I use your phone?”
“Of course,” He replied, handing me it and looked me over, concerned.
I went to the back of the store, out of earshot, then quickly dialed the one number I had memorized.
Ring… Ring… within two rings, his soothing voice answered. “Hello?”
“Daddy!” I squealed.
“Bristol, oh my god. How are you calling me?” My father asked, surprised.
“He let me go,”
“What? You sure this isn’t one of his games?” my father questioned, worried this may be another way to stir up more trouble.
My hand shook, holding the phone to my ear. What if my father was right? This could be a plan to kill my father and still keep me. I brushed the thoughts away. “No, I don't think so. I saved his life.”
“Oh thank god, where are you? I’ll come get you” relief in my father's voice comforted me, easing my nerves a bit.
“I’m not sure. Let me ask the clerk.” Still, on the phone, I approached the counter. The man was gone. My eyes darted around.
“Bristol, what’s the matter?”
I swallowed hard before I answered. “He’s gone.”
Confusion in my father’s voice as he asked. “What do you mean, he is gone?”
Irritated, I replied. “Like he is not fucking here!”
“Okay, go outside and look for a landmark, and I can figure out where you are.” My father suggested.
Taking in a deep breath, I agreed. “Okay.”
As I turned around, the phone fell, shattering all over the floor. A lump formed in my throat at the person standing before me. “Wh-what are you doing here?” I sputtered.
He leaned against the counter, his shirt still bloodstained. “I changed my mind.”
My heart sank to the pit of my stomach. “What do you mean?” The sour taste poured from my glands and vomit was close but I closed my eyes, forcing it to stay down.
“I thought about it and I can't live without you.” He professed.
“Please Alek, if you want the car, it’s yours.” I pleaded.
Alek shook his head, looking me over. “I don't give a shit about the car.” He said, biting his lower lip. “I want you.”
My thoughts went straight to the nice man who helped me. “Alek, where is the clerk?” Alek looked over the counter. “No, you didn’t?” I said as tears pricked at my eyes.
“He would have got in my way.” Alek declared.
The wetness on my face I wiped away with my sleeve. “I thought I saw something in you, but I was wrong. You’re just a monster in human form.” I hissed between clenched teeth.
“That’s fine. Think whatever helps you sleep, sweetheart.” He said, pushing himself off the counter and came towards me.
“STOP! Don’t come any closer or I’ll scream.” I said, determined to get away from him.
Alek lifted a brow, then forcefully grabbed me and I tried to scream, but he covered my mouth, picking me up as I kicked, trying to break free. Remembering his wound, I used it to my advantage and used my elbow. I jabbed him in the side and he dropped me while doubling over in pain. I hurried to my feet and took off out of the store, running for an alley behind the store.
With fear engulfing me, I kept running, looking back every few seconds to see if he was following me.
Tires screeched to a halt in front of me at the end of the alley, causing me to stop in my tracks. Alek got out, pointing a gun. The click of him cocking it caused me to scrunch my eyes shut and send a jolt throughout my body. I thought this was it. He would just shoot me for all my trouble and go about his way, but his voice filled the alley. “GET IN!” He snapped.
My eyes opened, and I held up my hands. “Fine, I'm going,” I said slowly, walking over to him.
Alek snatched me by the nape of my neck and pulled me to him. His mouth at my ear. “Don’t fucking run from me again!” He growled. I winced at his grip. “DO YOU HEAR ME?”
“Ye-yes, I hear you.”
He opened the SUV door and shoved me in. I laid down on the back seat and cried as he peeled away.
A WEEK LATER...I have been in this freaking mansion for a week, and I would literally do anything just to work at the club to get the hell out of here, but since I won't even speak to Alek, there's no way he will let me. Plus, he's afraid I’ll run.I stood from the bed and went down to the kitchen. To my surprise, Alek is here instead of his new goon to watch me. And by the way, he was almost as much of an asshole as Damon was.Alek glanced up from whatever he was writing, and his eyes followed me across the kitchen. I glared in his direction, then rolled my eyes.My outfit of choice was an oversized sweater that slumped off my shoulder. And I completely forgot to put on shorts because I thought Alek would have left already.I bent down awkwardly, trying to grab the juice.“Why the hell are you bending like that?” Alek starred, confused. “Are you broken?”
We pulled into a fancy restaurant in downtown LA. Alek came around, opened my door, and helped me out.As we entered, a friendly server approached. “Mr. Nabokav, welcome. We have your usual table.”A smile formed on my lips, and a giggle almost escaped me.“Don’t even,” Alek whispered as we followed the server.I pretended to zip my lip. “Your secret is safe with me.”Alek chuckled under his breath. At the table, Alek pulled out my chair, and I accepted. Then he sat across from me.“What can I get you to drink?” The server asked, looking between the two of us.“Whiskey,” Alek answered.I looked up from the menu at the server. “The same.”Alek lifted a brow. “You sure?”“I’m not as innocent as you think.” And I nodded for the
NEXT DAY...Walking down the stairs ready for the day, I find myself alone, except for my bodyguard, or should I say, prison guard. Drake sat at the table, reading something on his phone.“Where is Alek?” I asked.Drake looked up. “He had a meeting.”“How am I going to get to the club?” I questioned.Drake grinned. “Me sweetheart.”The way he looked at me gave me creeper vibes.Annoyed, I glare at him. “It’s Bristol,” I stated with my hand on my hip.“Whatever hotcakes,” Drake laughed, looking back at his phone.Anger bubbled up. I slammed my hand on the counter. “I said my name is Bristol!” I shouted, repeating myself. He stood. “Watch it. That pretty little mouth shouldn’t talk like that. I have a few ideas about how I should be used.”&
It stunned Alek for a second, but quickly comprehended what I said. His lips forcefully smashed into mine. His hands cupped my face as he deepened our kiss. Alek tasted so good. I wanted him to ravish every part of me. We pulled apart, breathless. "I want you so damn bad," Alek whispered as he placed his forehead against mine. "Then do it. Take me now Alek," I teased. There was a rumble in his chest when he gripped the back of my thighs and lifted me to straddle him. He held me effortlessly as he walked towards the hall. "No, I can't wait. I want you now," I said with urgency. Alek slammed me against the wall, and I wrappe
The other bartender made my drinks, and I returned to the table, unsure what I was getting myself in the middle of. “Here you go, four whiskeys,” I placed the drinks down and left, but the man’s voice stopped me. “Why in such a rush?” He asked. Turning back to him, I smiled politely. “I have to check on my tables. I’ll be back to check on you in a few,” I said and turned to leave, but the man grabbed my wrist. Instantly his hand was ripped off me and I was placed behind Alek. The man and Alek glared at each other. “What? Not happy to see an old friend?” the man’s lip curved into a grin. He leaned back against the booth, placing his hands on the top.
Alek stared at me with admiration in his eyes. “Why would you risk your life for me? I stole yours, remember?” I thought over his words for a second. “You may have changed my life, but you didn’t steal it. You saved it.” Baffled, he stared blankly, not sure what to say to those words, and placed the car in drive, then took off. We pulled off onto the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. It was dark. The only light came from the half-moon perched up in the sky. Alek put the vehicle in park and glanced at me. “Stay here,” he ordered. When I tried to argue, he pressed his plump lips to mine in a passionate kiss like this could be the last I see of him, and that made my insides go anxious at the
Smoked trailed up from the barrel of the pistol. Three of Gianni’s goons laid lifeless on the cold cement floor. Now I had an aim at Gianni.Alek stared at me out of the corner of his eye, stunned. “Where the hell did you learn to shoot like that?”I shrugged. “It runs in the family.”Gianni stood there in disbelief, wondering how a young girl like me could take out three of his best men, but then held his hands up in defeat. “Hey now, let’s not be hasty.”I glared at him. “Oh right, and you were just friendly as pie telling your men to gun down Alek and kidnap me?” I snapped. “Take your bullshit to someone else that believes it!” I spat.
My head fell on Alek's shoulder as I hugged his body tight. His hand found mine, and he squeezed it. "I love you." His voice was faint."SOMEONE CALL THE DOCTOR NOW!" I screamed, frantically looking around.Kevin pulled out his phone quickly and dialed the mafia doctor while I tried to keep Alek awake."Please, you have to keep your eyes open. Stay with me." I pleaded while my eyes turned into Niagara falls. What felt like hours was only minutes when the doctor arrived."Excuse me, make way," The doctor said, walking through the sea of people surrounding us.As my attention went towards the doctor, I caught sight of a familiar face in the crowd, trying to slip away. I knew who caused this. With my arms wrapped around Alek, I looked up at the doctor. "Help him, please," I begged."I will do everything I can."I nodded, wiping the tears from my face, and picked up the gun next to A
