Chapter 10: Going to the kitchen

Su Lan thought for a while and headed over to the kitchen. She saw some similar looking ingredients but wasn't sure if the ingredients were the same as the one on earth. The chef went over to Su Lan and asked, "Little Miss, is there something you want to eat?"

Su Lan: "I want to use the kitchen. You can head out and take a break."

Chef: ".....Yes, Little miss." (Turns his head back every three steps to look at Su Lan).

Su Lan first walked over to what looked like salt and sugar. She dipped her finger in and tasted it a bit. It was normal salt and sugar. She then walked over to the weird looking vegetable and opened her screen and started to look at all the food descriptions. She decided to make a strawberry pound cake. She grabbed the ingredients that fit the ingredients for pound cake even though it looked a bit weird.

How was it weird? If you see an egg that is not oval but squared and milk was supposed to white become pink how can that seem normal! At least the strawberry color was normal. That is if you overlook the size of the strawberry! Never in her life did she imagine a strawberry can be as big as her palm! One of the reasons she liked strawberries was because it was bite sized! She didn’t need to cut and peel the fruit skin. Now she had to do more work to chop it up. For a lazy person like Su Lan she felt tired thinking she had more work to do to eat strawberries in the future.

Su Lan picked up all the ingredients that had similar effects and taste to make the strawberry pound cake. She put the mix into the oven. At least the oven was normal but instead of gas it used fire stones to light up. After baking the cake for an hour and 25 minutes the pound cake was finally ready. The cake was pink in color instead of golden yellow. Su Lan felt if she showed this cake to her father he would definitely think she liked pink. Su Lan felt her head and eyes ache just thinking of her room and clothes.

She cut a slice of the pound cake and tried it. She smiled and thought at least it tasted right. Su Lan sliced the rest of the pound cake and packed it in a basket. She also made different types of sandwiches and decided to bring some to her father. She was sure her father should have been working the whole time without eating. Mango had told her before that her father had to come back home to check on her and refused to go back to his office in the castle to work. Her father brought his work home but there was still a lot that piled up. This had happened so many times that the King literally had a transportation portal made near the castle and her father’s home.

Su Lan walked over to her father's office and saw two guards at the door and a few hidden ones. She walked up and told the guards to inform her father she was here. One of the guards knocked on the door and walked in.

Su Lan waited a while before her father's assistant Shun came out.

Shun: "Little Miss please come with me."

Su Lan nodded and walked in with him. In the office, her father Lui Shan was currently writing a document and his desk had two stacks of paper. When she walked in Lui Shan finished writing a sentence and then looked up. He had a gentle smile on his face and asked if she needed anything.

Su Lan: "Father did you eat lunch?"

Shun and Lui Shan stared at her. Lui Shan took a while to come back before answering.

Lui Shan: "No, not yet."

Su Lan: "I made some food and desserts for you."

Lui Shan and Shun both had a look of being shocked and dumbfounded. The only thing they were missing was a mouth hanging open wide.

Su Lan's mouth twitched and decided maybe it was better to tell her father the truth but, of course, hide some parts or she wouldn't be able to explain her changes. From her memories she knew how much Lui Shan cared about her and wouldn't harm her.

Su Lan (teary eyes): "Daddy, you don't want to eat it?"

Lui Shan, the daughter-con immediately said, "I want to eat!"

Shun looked at his boss and childhood friend and thought before he was already a daughter-con but even more so now.

Su Lan smiled and pulled her father from behind the desk to the couch and coffee table. She turned to Shun and said, "Uncle Shun, can you have someone bring in some tea and we can eat together?"

Shun: "Sure...."

Shun walked to the door to call a maid to make some tea.

Su Lan looked at the blue tea and opened her screen confirming it was what earth called black tea in her world. When she saw the green water of the green tea in her room she thought the tea here was normal how naive she was.

Su Lan pulled Shun to also sit down on the couch before putting the sandwiches and pound cake on the coffee table. Shun and Lui Shan were shocked because it looked edible. They were thinking even if it was burned and pitch black they would still eat it because it was her first time cooking. When they saw the sandwiches and especially the pound cake they were shocked.

Lui Shan (in his mind): Of course my darling daughter likes pink! Look! Even the food she made is pink. I must find more pink gifts for her!

If Su Lan knew what her father thought she would tell him “no it is because of the pink milk that it turned into this color”. Su Lan didn’t know she shot herself in the foot by making the cake causing her upcoming future to be piled with even more pink.
