"So a siren politely kidnapped your son's mate, and we not only believe her, we are trying to do her a favor," Selene asks in disbelief, and I bite my lip.

"I didn't like that part either. Why didn't she just speak with Sara? What was the point in taking her," I ask aloud, and Lucian wraps an arm around my waist?

Anniki appears behind Selene in the bowl of tap water, and I take a deep, reassuring breath.

"Morning, Anniki. I'm sorry for keeping you two from getting to bed, but this seems to be a time-related thing," I say, greeting the Goddess of night as calmly as I can.

Anniki shakes her head at me and folds her arms. Her lips become thin lines as she looks at me, and I glance at Selene before refocusing on Anniki.

"Amber, why are you concerning yourself with the dragons," Anniki asks, sounding annoyed, and my defenses immediately pop up.

"Because I am allowed to care," I snap back, and Selene shakes her head almost sadly.
