“But it is still too early for them,” Mitsuhide said as he thought about what she said. Kit walked into the operating room prepared to act if she was needed. This was still her mindset, and she knew that was also the reason Mitsuhide wanted her in there with his sister. He would be behind the doors watching as everything happened through a window so they both could see their sons being born. She stood at the end of the table where June’s head was, and she looked down at her. Life was going to change in the next five minutes. All because Mitsuhide’s sister made it this far. The hours passed by though neither of them was ready to admit that it seemed like only a few minutes. They didn’t have to say anything between them as they looked at the two small sleeping newborns. Both of the adults were making plans for the next few days.They began to hear a ruckus outside the room and in the main hallway of the ward. “What do you mean?” Mitsuhide asked as they went into the room. She was tired he could already see. The loss of June was going to take a toll on her. She softened her gaze as she looked at the baby who was lying in the small crib. They both were starting to wake up slowly. Kit looked around the room and got the bottles ready for the twins knowing that they would be hungry when they woke up in a few minutes. She also got the diapers ready for them to be changed. The doctor went over everything with them in about an hour so they could be discharged early. The twins had to come back within three days for another round of bloodwork, but everything was that simple. As Mitsuhide went down to his car and got out the two car seats. Kit was packing up the supplies they had been given by the nurses. They had loaded the two adults up with many bottles and diapers that the twins could probably last about three or four weeks on those supplies alone. Kit knew they had their reasons for this. She smiled and thanked them and asked if the other families, regardless of the outcomes, could get the same amount of supplies for their new ones as well. Mitsuhide had completely settled into the couch after he had ordered dinner, and it had arrived. He watched Kit as she did the smallest of things and knew that he was just amazed by her. Though he also knew she had many things on her mind. The day had completely taken a toll on the both of them. It had been good for so many reasons, but at the same time, a part of him was now gone. They had gone from two people living together who were best friends to man and wife and then within hours had become parents for the first time. Life had a funny way of balancing things. The detective called an hour later. He was talking to Mitsuhide as Kit was dozing on the couch. Mitsuhide was listening to the man as he was rambling himself at the way everything had come to light. Mitsuhide had to shake his head; it seemed the detective was over his head as any normal person would be in sifting through this horribly tangled mess. Kit had been doing just that since the beginning, and it nearly tore her apart because she actually cared for people on both sides of it.“I could use some help with talking to this one.
