“Kill switch.” I flicked the switch. “Clutch in.” I squeezed the clutch. “Find neutral.” I kicked the small pedal upwards half a click.

Vinny was voicing random commands at me. The stand was still down, and the motorcycle was switched off as I practiced switching up and down gears, pressing my brake pedal and gently twisting the throttle. I felt like a tiny idiot balancing on this big bike.

“Okay, I think your ready to go around the parking lot.” He nodded. “Just remember, not to hard on the gas and avoid that front brake if you don’t want to go careening off.”
