Chapter Thirty - Eight
Step by Step:
Danica went to step forward and her leg buckled in on her. She let out a painful cry as she almost toppled to the ground. Kaleb caught her and pulled her back into him. She collided against his chest. He grunted at the impact, she could tell he was also in pain but forcing it away to make sure she was ok.
“I think we need to take a minute.” She whispered into his chest.“Aye Love.” He replied back as he rubbed her arm softly. He glanced around and saw some rocks off to the side. He took Danica’s arm and placed it around his neck. She raised an eyebrow at him as his hand moved to her back. Before she knew it Kaleb had scooped her off her feet and was walking to the rocks. She sighed about to argue but she knew it would be of no use. He was stubborn and wouldn't put her down. She leaned her head into his chest enjoying the closeness of him. Missing:The long way around the passage was surprisingly calm. Ariadne had steered the whole time on edge waiting for something to happen. Patrick had stayed quiet, they haven't really spoken since Patrick had told her about the scars on his back. She had a bunch of questions, why did he stay? Trap: Kaleb held tightly to Danica’s hand as they made their way through the tunnel. It seemed like it was taking forever. They only stepped on the rocks that were glowing to be safe. Danica hadn't said one word since they entered the tunnel, her heart pounding in her chest. She was waiting for something to go wrong. Kaleb slowed as the tunnel began to widen. The tunnel opened to a large circle room. The room was made out of the same dark ash rock the cave was. The glowing rocks continued across the way to the center of the room. A single light shone down on a three pillar stand. At the top of the stand sat an old treasure chest. Danica inched forward seeing the chest. Kaleb caught her by the wrist. She raised an eyebrow at him. “Look at the floor, there’s something off with it. It looks fragile.” Kaleb said pointing down at the ground.

Reunited:The jungle was dark and a deep green color. It held a coldness to it and it wasn't the temperature. It closed in and wrapped around them making it hard to move through the jungle. The vines seemed to want to tangle you up and stopped you from moving. They struggled to advance even though there was already a small charted path. It looked like it had been cut through only a day ago but already the jungle was trying to erase it. Tea:Kaleb smirked watching Danica lead the way his eyes fixated on her. Patrick glanced at him slightly as he helped carry the chest. Kalbe caught him looking at him and raised his eyebrow. A silly smile formed on Patrick’s lips.“What?” Kaleb said his voice was drawn out as if he knew what his brother was going to say.“So did you find a reason to stop your endless roaming?” Patrick asked, his smile growing.Ariadne squeezed by the brothers hurrying to catch up to Danica. Almost: Danica’s feet hit the beach sand and the amount of joy she felt finally being out of the jungle and nothing bad happening was overwhelming. She scanned the beach and realized the crew was gone. She could see the Evening Star sitting out just past the shallow. She glanced quickly at Ariadne , her eyes questioning where everyone was. “They are safe. I had them go to the ship. I thought it would be safer.” She smiled at her sister. Jonah came out and stood next to Danica scanning the beach as well. His eyes found the Evening Star and he smiled seeing it sitting in the ocean waiting for them. “Let's get in the row boats.” Jonah said walking ahead to the row boats, he wanted nothing more than to be on his ship. Flowers:The rowboat crashed into the ocean Ariadne was flung forward into Patrick’s lap. He wrapped his arms quickly around her, steading her. She smiled softly at him as he helped her sit back on the seat. Danica watched the exchange and she was slowly starting to believe he might be a good guy or a very good actor. It was hard to trust him. Kaleb handed the oar to Patrick and they began making their way back to the island. The sky was now riddled with stars and the moon was the only light they had guiding them. Danica prayed that they could find the way back to the arch way with the white flowers. As they approached the shoreline Danica went to hop out but felt a hand catch her shoulder.“You and Ariadna stay in the boat we can pull it in.'' Patrick said and jumped into the water before she could say anything back.
The North Star Chapter Forty - Five
Poisoned:They made their way out of the jungle so much quicker and faster than they did before. Their feet hitting the sandy beach soil, arms filled with flowers as they made it to the rowboat all running the best they could on the sand. They all wanted back on the ship as soon as possible. Kaleb dropped his arm full of flowers into the boat Danica and Araidne climbed in. Patrick dropped the ones he was carrying into the rowboat as well. Kaleb and Patrick began pushing the rowboat into the ocean. One the boat was floating in the water they both climbed in. They began to row back to the ship hoping everything was still ok. The ocean water seemed to be effortless to paddle through and they reached the ship in no time. The ropes were lowered down to help capture the row boat. Patrick and Kaleb fastened the rowboat to the ropes and the crew began pulling it up. Once on board they unloaded

Cure:Several minutes which seemed like hours passed. They began setting up a system. Each person infected would get serum followed by the flower water. Then those not infected would have the flower water as a precaution if the rash occurred then the serum. Ariadne glanced at Danica who was still out. She sighed heavily, Kaleb touched her shoulder lightly trying to comfort her.“ I don't know what else to do. I can't think of anything else.” She whispered, her voice cracking as she spoke.She could feel her hands starting to shake, she was about to lose it. She took a deep breath in trying to calm herself before she lost control. This was too much, this all was too much. The company, the pressure, the voyage, and now she needed Dani to wake up. She didn't realize it but her breathing rapidly change
