Chapter Thirty - Seven

Danica struggled to get to her feet pushing off the sand. She stumbled as she tried to race after Kaleb. The piercing noise was growing with each step she took. Covering her ears she pushed herself forward. She could hear a low rumble noise that reminded her of the ocean’s waves crashing against the shore. She knew water was coming up soon and she had to stop Kaleb before he walked mindlessly into it. 

The cave passage narrowed. The rocks lining it were dark ash color and jagged. She was careful not to brush against them for fear that the sharp edges would tear into her flesh. She was close to him now he was just out of reach. She held out her hand in front of desperately trying to touch him. Part of her was praying that he would trip, fall or collapse.
