I walked behind Davis as we headed to his office, different thoughts running through my head. He said he wanted to talk to me, and was waiting outside for me, which meant that it was serious.

We finally got to his office and I shut the door behind me after I had gotten in. I waited for him to start talking and I fidgeted with my fingers, feeling a trail of sweat run down my face.

" You don't need to be scared, I'm not Carissa. I just wanted to speak with you, that's all. Please, sit down, " he assured, while sitting down and I did the same as he had instructed.

" You know, " he started and I sat up, giving him my full attention. " Maya might not be my real daughter, but I love her just the same way I love Bella and that was why I adopted her. She might look strong and all that, but she is still a little child to me and I will always treat her like one, ".
