Chapter 1

“Sam, will you marry me?”

Samantha Wilson was only 21 years old and just graduated from college. She did not expect that her one-year relationship with Charles would lead to this marriage proposal. She was really surprised.

Although Charles Davidson, a 25-year-old businessman, is really an outstanding man. His family owns the largest bus company in the city. She knows he could give her everything. However, she is not ready yet. She is still very young. She has a lot of dreams and wants to achieve so many things in life on her own.

“Say yes! Say yes!” Shouted by the crowd present in the restaurant.

Samantha was confused. She did not know how to answer. Pressured by the crowd, she responded.

"Charles, s-sorry.” Then, she suddenly ran away from that place. She was afraid to see his reaction that’s why she ran without turning back. Charles was left speechless and frozen from kneeling.

Three years later.

A man in a black suit walked out of the exit of the airport. His features are all perfect from head to toe - deep dark eyes, perfect sharp nose, thin red lips, masculine body, and a tall figure. A look that everyone will surely remember in just one glance. The man of every woman’s fantasy.

“Hello? Ben, where are you? I just arrived... Okay.” He answered the call with his cold magnetic voice.

Charles Davidson who left the country three years ago finally returned after the incident of his failed proposal. He still looks as handsome as ever.

A color blue Ferrari parked in front of him. Envious and admiring gazes will be seen around him.

He got in the car. “Boss, how’s your trip?” Ben asked, his driver.

“Fine, just had some turbulence. Maybe due to the bad weather coming. I want to take a nap. Drive safely.” He answered then he closed his eyes.

“Okay Boss, take a good rest.”

Meanwhile, there was an accident on the road. Sam’s car got bumped by a truck. Fortunately, the speed of the truck was not that fast and she was wearing her seatbelt so she did not get a major injury. Her back and head just slightly hurt due to the impact of the collision.

The police and traffic enforcers were on the road to investigate the incident.

“What’s the matter?” Charles asked the driver when he noticed that they were not moving for about 10 minutes.

“Sir, as per waze there was a traffic jam due to a car accident 300 meters away,” Robert explained.

“Car accident?” He did not know but he felt nervous once he heard that there was an accident. For this reason, he could not sleep anymore.

After 15 minutes, they finally moved. He looked on the road to see the cause of

the traffic. Then, his heart skipped when he saw a familiar face on the side of the road.

“Police officers I was not holding my cellphone when the accident happened as he claimed. I am always careful when I drive to avoid anything like this from happening." Sam spoke calmly explaining herself.

“If you are not using your phone, then why did you suddenly slow down? If not, we will not bump into your car accidentally.” The truck driver asked arrogantly.

“I did slow down but I was not using my phone as you said. You bumped my car because you're not paying attention.” She’s still controlling her temper.

Unexpectedly, a cold deep voice was heard. They all turned their head.

“What’s the noise about?”

Sam was shocked when she saw him and her memory three years ago flashbacked. She stared at the man with mixed emotions. She wanted to hug him and say that she missed him a lot. But she has no right.

After that proposal, she heard that Charles went abroad to manage their family business there. She wanted to call him but she had no face to do so. They had no communication since then.

And now, he suddenly appeared in this pitiful situation.

“Mr. Davidson, it was just a small accident. We apologize for the trouble it had caused you.” The police officer explained politely.

Davidson family is very popular in the city. Everyone knows them as they owned the largest bus company in their land.

“I see, investigate properly. I’ll be leaving.” He turned around after he said those words. He just checked the situation. After he confirmed that Sam was safe, he immediately left.

‘He left just like that? He did not look at me even for a second? Was he still angry at me? Sigh, I deserved it after what I did to him.’ Sam was lost in her thoughts.

After both of the parties gave their statement they were invited to the police station to get the police report.

The following day, Sam brought her car to the repair shop.

“Luckily it’s Sunday today.” She said to herself. She planned to go to the mall to buy a dress for the year-end party of their company, so she booked a grab car. After 5 minutes of waiting, a car stopped in front of her.

‘So fast huh?’ The car was the same color as indicated in the app so she got in the car without looking at the plate number.

She was browsing the internet when the driver asked.

“Where are you going?”

She was stunned. ‘Why is this voice so familiar?’ She looked at the driver who was staring at her in the rearview mirror. Her eyes widened in shock. “C-Charles?”
